UK Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships – 13th March 2010
I have been asked to be Clerk of Course for the above Championships which are being held at Cofton Park, Birmingham after many successful years at Wollaton Park, Nottingham. Two of my main responsibilities are to setup & dismantle the course and find & co-ordinate marshals for the championships.
I was the Race Director for the 2005 National Cross Country Championships which were also held at Cofton Park. One of its great successes was the response by the Midland clubs especially those in and around Birmingham who supplied teams of 4/5 people to do these tasks. I am writing to ask if your club could do the same for the Inter-Counties so that we can show once again what good meetings we put on in the Midlands.
The timings are yet to be finalised but on the day we would start taping the course at about 7.30am. The first race will be about 11am and the racing should be over by 3.30pm. We then have to dismantle the course.
The preparation will start on the Thursday when we will ‘spot mark’ the position of the stakes. On the Friday we will put out the stakes and then on Saturday tape the course.
If your club could supply a small team or even just one person for some of the time on the day it would be a great help. Whether they could come for all or part of the day I would welcome you on the team. We only need a few people for the work on the Thursday and Friday and if you are available then your assistance will be appreciated.
If you can help or require further information please let me know by calling or emailing me. My contact details are below.
