Where is the track? Where do I go when I get there?

How much does it cost?
Sessions are subsidised by the club. Please pay £3 via the app to sign up.
I am a member of Everyone Active - do I need to pay?
Yes, you need to pay. Everyone Active members cannot use the track when it has been exclusively booked out for club sessions. Contact Everyone Active to find out when you are able to book the track with your membership.
Where can I park?
If you are driving to the session, we recommend you park at Victoria Park and walk or run the short distance to the Track. Please DO NOT park on River Close or the roads near the Track. Please feel free to arrange to lift share or meet another club member at the car park and head to the track together.
What shoes should I wear?
Most people run the session in their normal road shoes. If you run in spikes, please remember that the maximum length for track spikes is 6mm.
What speed should I run?
We recommend focusing on form and consistency. A useful resource for working out your recommended paces for speedwork sessions can be found here: VDOT
Why is there a waiting list?
We have a limit on numbers for this session set by Everyone Active. Please do not turn up to the session unless you have a confirmed space. If you are on the waiting list and continue to run, not only does that compromise our insurance agreement with Everyone Active but we also do not have your emergency contact details and it makes all of us feel uncomfortable having to turn people away.
Is there a warm up/cool down?
We start each session with a group warm up, which usually consists of a steady jog followed by some dynamic stretching and drills. There is no group cool down as everyone finishes at different times, but the track leader will be happy to advise you on cool downs.

It can get busy with other clubs running their main session when we finish so we have an agreement between the other clubs that we won’t cool down on the track so please don’t do this! You are welcome to use the grassy area around the outside of the track (never in the middle of the track), or most people run or walk back to their car or home.
What is the benefit of each session?
All of our sessions help you to work on form, consistency and speed. We have options to run, ‘Bronze’, ‘Silver’ or ‘Gold’ so you can adapt the session to suit your own training and goals. For example, if you are interested in longer distances you might choose the silver or gold session and if you want to improve your 5km time, you could focus on running the bronze session faster. If you are following a specific training plan, please take advantage of our running coaches (spa.striders.coaching@gmail.com) and get advice on the sessions that would be best for you. Remember, it is more beneficial to run a shorter session consistently, than a long one less well!
What happens if the weather is bad?
We are generally able to run the session in most conditions. If the session needs to be relocated or cancelled the track leader will put a message on the club app.
