Club Overview

Spa Striders is a vibrant club with over 300 members. There is lots going on almost every day of the week and below we give you a flavour of what we are about.

Running together

The key purpose of the club is to enable members to enjoy their running as part of a community and we provide opportunities to do this most days of the week.

There are club nights with different paced groups so you can run at your pace, track-based speed sessions and more – details are on the Sessions page. Once a member you can sign up for sessions using the club app (you will be sent details when you sign up).

Racing

Racing is not compulsory!! But many members do race both locally, all over the country and indeed the world.

Many members participate in the local winter Cross Country and Summer Road Race League, and we have our own internal competitions.

We also enter teams into various events including the iconic Hilly Hundred relay.

The Club also has a ballot for London Marathon places each year.

Social life

It's not only about running, we also have a social side to the club including a summer BBQ, Christmas party, curry nights and pub runs in the summer.

Membership includes social membership at the Leamington Tennis and Squash club. Striders can often be found there on a Friday night or after a big racing weekend.

Athlete registrations and affiliations

Club membership includes registration with England Athletics which offers a number of benefits, including reduced entry fees to many races. We take care of this for you when you join.

We also have some members who participate in Triathlon and so we are affiliated to British Triathlon which gives club members a number of benefits should they decide to register with BT themselves.

Communications

The committee tries to ensure that there is plenty of communication in the club and welcomes feedback from members.

There is a weekly newsletter emailed on Sunday evening and there is a Facebook group for club messages, lots of social chit chat and photos of what’s going on.

Club merchandise

We sell a range of club merchandise through the app including running tops in club colours, hoodies and neck-warmers.

Marshalling

The club provides marshalling for the Leamington Regency 10k race and for its own races Ryton 5 and XC at Burton Dassett. Members are asked to volunteer to help make these events a success – it is usually huge fun (unless it snows at Burton Dassett)!

Welfare

We take the welfare and safety of our members seriously and have a series of relevant policies as well as two welfare officers and a complaints policy.
